And one of the tools for this job is the Remote Desktop program from Microsoft, which helps you connect your home computer to an office computer. After establishing a connection, you can see the screen, open files and work with applications on your mobile device as if you were in front of the same computer (although not as fast). Enabling the switch for administrator mode connects you to a console session to manage the Windows server; you normally turn it off. In the Gateway section, you only need to enable and configure the Gateway option if your organization uses a Remote Desktop Gateway to secure remote connections.

Scroll down to Device and Audio Redirection to enable any features you want to use on your device during a remote connection. You want to direct the audio to play on this device. If you plan on copying and pasting back and forth, you might want to enable the cache. You can also enable the microphone, camera and remote storage. Once you’re done, click the Save button in the upper right corner.
An icon for the computer you want to access will appear in the app. Click this icon to connect. When you try to access a computer for the first time, Remote Desktop may ask you to verify your connection to that computer. Activate Don’t ask me again to connect to this computer and click “I agree”.
Then you should be connected to the remote computer. Now you can open apps and windows, manage your desktop, and do almost everything you would if you were sitting in front of a computer. To help you manage your remote session, the app displays a small toolbar across the top that lets you zoom in and out, show your device’s keyboard, or switch to another remote connection.

Click the icon in the center to view all dial-up connections. Select the remote connection to switch to another session. At the top of this screen is its toolbar. Touch the Home icon to return to the home screen, where you can set up or access another connection. Click the hand icon to switch to touch screen mode and the mouse icon to switch to mouse mode.
Click the X button on the dial-up thumbnail to log out for this session. Otherwise, click Log off all PCs to end any current session.

Leave the Admin Mode and Toggle Mouse buttons disabled if you don’t need them. If your organization uses a Remote Desktop Gateway, you can add a gateway. Choose to play audio from a remote computer to your device. If you don’t need to adjust the screen resolution, mouse buttons, administrator session, and local storage, you can disable them. When done, click Connect.

If prompted, enter a password for your account. If a message appears stating that the certificate could not be verified, click the Connect button.
Use the toolbar at the top of the screen to zoom in and out, show the on-screen keyboard, or view other remote sessions. Click the Home button to return to the main application screen. Click the mouse pointer icon to display the mouse pointer. To end the current remote session, click the X icon in your computer’s thumbnail window.
