Lists are one of the keys to success. Take it from me, a work from home mom of two running three different businesses. Without my to-do list I would be lost, and important bills, meetings and monthly tasks would fall through the cracks.

I like to set 3 non-negotiables for each month, so I know what my top priorities are, and even though I’m very busy, I know I’ll get the most important things done. For me, those three items are mostly specific work-related projects I want to do, but they can also include non-negotiables like organizing family papers or deep cleaning the kitchen.
At the beginning of each month, the first thing I do is print out a new monthly calendar for that month. Then I have a place to jot down tasks, important notes, upcoming appointments, parties and scheduled events.
I also like to consider any special purchases I need to make during the month, along with everyday expenses like groceries and gas. That way, I can get an idea of how much money I’ll have in a month, rather than a big expense (like car maintenance or back-to-school clothes).

Each month I pin a calendar to a board that hangs above my desk so I can easily refer to it and cross things off as the months go by.
