A goal must be realistic and requires effort and determination to achieve it. That’s why goals need timelines and measurements of steps along the way so we can track progress and make adjustments if needed.
By setting goals, measuring and celebrating their achievements, students can see what they have done and what they can do. Seeing their results gives them the confidence and reassurance they need to believe they can achieve high goals.
Setting specific and achievable goals can be a daunting task for some students. Even with clear instructions and general guidelines, most students will write vague and general goals such as:

Students must have a specific way of feeling accomplished that will motivate them to take on new goals. In addition, other students can feel encouraged because their classmates have similar struggles and have faced them in success and failure.
